UNIVERSITY of Perpetual Help System Dalta and Jose Rizal University dispute the remaining Final Four berth today in the NCAA women’s volleyball tournament at the Filoil Flying V Centre.

With the winner-over-the-other rule being applied to break ties after the single-round eliminations this season, the Lady Altas, who, at 5-3, are a game ahead of the fifth-running Lady Bombers (4-4), simply cannot afford to lose in the 12 noon match.

A JRU win will eliminate Perpetual Help in the process, handing the Lady Bombers their second straight semifinal  appearance.

The winner will face elims topnotcher College of Saint Benilde in the Final Four on Tuesday.  The other semifinals pairing pits defending champion Arellano University and No. 3 San Beda.

The Lady Blazers and the Lady Chiefs hold the twice-to-beat bonus after finishing 1-2 in the eliminations.

Coach Macky Cariño is aware of the importance of the match, as the Lady Altas are also gunning for their second consecutive Final Four stint.

Perpetual Help is fresh from a 25-19, 25-8, 18-25, 25-17 conquest of San Sebastian last Monday.

With a healthy Yanca Tripoli and ace hitter Cindy Imbo churning out her usual numbers, the Lady Altas are ready to go for broke.

Coming off a nine-day layoff after a 25-20, 17-25, 20-25, 22-25 defeat from the hands of St. Benilde, JRU got the breaks needed in the past few playdates to stave off early elimination.

Perpetual Help’s men’s and juniors teams, meanwhile, shoot for an outright championship berth against JRU in the morning.
