Perpetual volley coach does his share in helping frontliners

UNIVERSITY of Perpetual Help System Dalta men's volleyball champion coach Sammy Acaylar is also doing his share for the frontliners who are helping out in  the battle against COVID-19.

After the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine was imposed, Acaylar gave out free water and soup for the enforcers who are manning the checkpoints in Ocampo and Times area in Las Piñas.

"Ako sa konting tulong na share ko sa kanila buong puso ko itong dalhin kasi natulungan ko sila, kaya nga sabi ko tuloy tuloy ang tubig at next week pansit naman," said Acaylar.

"Sa blessing na bngay ni Lord sa akin pagtrain at pagcoach ng volleyball at pinag-champion nya ako itong hiram na talent ay makatulong ako sa kapwa," he added.

Acaylar, who also owns a water station near Perpetual, borrowed dispensers and gallons of water for the frontliners who are braving the scorching heat while manning the checkpoints.

"Yung katiwala ko (in the water station) nagsabi sa akin na coach Sam, kawawa mga frontliners wala man lang mainom, sige para makatulong tayo kahit konti lang sales bigyan mo ng tubig araw-araw para naman may pantawid uhaw," said Acaylar.

"Sabi nila salamat at may nakapansin kasi wala daw clang tubig at gutom sila lagi, kaya napagisipan namin na bgyan cla ng sopas pang merienda, so di ma-imagine ng katiwala ko yung saya at parang ung puso namin ay mabiyak kasi yung tulong na kahit tubig lang at sopas ay pinagpasalamat nila," he added.

Although the Altas' season was prematurely ended due to the coronavirus pandemic, they are still blessed with Acaylar's special care for the frontliners who are trying their very best to keep the community safe from the virus.
