PETROGAZZ on Sunday night has parted ways with five players from its starting six in the previous PVL season’s Open Conference.

Middle blockers Cherry Nunag and Jeanette Panaga, as well as the Angels’ main offensive weapons Jovy Prado, Jonah Sabete and Kai Baloaloa have their contracts expired last Dec. 31.

We’re thankful for all the years you’ve played for the PetroGazz family! Forever grateful for all the amazing memories!,” the club
posted on its social media accounts.

Wishing you all the best in your future endeavors! Thank you, Angels!,” the post added.

Panaga, a NCAA champion and Finals MVP from College of Saint Benilde, appreciated her stay with PetroGazz, which joined the now-pro league in 2018.

The Angels ruled the 2019 Reinforced Conference behind the prolific duo of Wilma Salas and Janisa Johnson and finished second in the Open Conference. The PVL was not able to mount tournaments last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Forever grateful. Thank you Petro Gazz Family!,” Panaga posted with a heart emoji on her Twitter account Sunday night.

Panaga and Baloaloa were acquired by club after Pocari Sweat left the PVL in 2018, while Prado was signed by the team after Tacloban’s disbandment on the same year.

Nunag and Sabete, on the other hand, made their PVL debut in 2019 after their respective stints in a rival club league.

Last year, PetroGazz has acquired Grethcel Soltones, Jerrili Malabanan and Ivy Perez to boost its stock. The trio have been with the
Angels for three months before training was halted in mid-March due to the Luzon-wide lockdown.

The Angels are expected to make announcements regarding their roster moves in the coming weeks.

The PVL is plotting to open its season on April 10.
