MANILA Mayor Honey Lacuna commended the Sta. Ana Hospital (SAH) under the stewardship of its director Dr. Grace Padilla for having achieved the ‘5-Star Certificate of Level of Accessibility Award 2023.’

Lacuna said the SAH has garnered a five-star award or 100 percent mark on the Accessibility Audit conducted by the United Architects of the Philippines (UAP) Quezon City Chapter, in cooperation with Architects for Accessibility (AFA). The certification was awarded on January 5, 2023.

The team of auditors is composed of the following: Arch. Grace M Quebral (Past President, UAP QC Chapter, and AFA; Arch. Elise Sophia Francisco-Tabong (Past President UAP QC Chapter and AFA); Arch. Justin Owen S. Francisco Pres. UAP QC Central and AFA and Arch. Enrico G. Abordo, Co-founder AFA Past President, UAP QC Central.

The lady mayor particularly expressed pride that the SAH is the very first local government hospital (LGU) in the country to have successfully passed the accessibility audit.

“This means that SAH is a friendly institution for persons with disabilities having 100 percent mark on the following structural accessibility features: ramp access, toilet access, parking slot, signages; non-skid flooring; entrance doors; corridors; handrails; tactile flooring; blinking lights, stairs elevators, and installation of PWD office/kiosk,” she said.

For her part, Padilla thanked Lacuna, the UAP and the AFA for the special recognition, saying it will serve as an inspiration for her and all those behind the operations of SAH to do even better.

Padilla also said that the credit goes not only to her but to all the medical team and her entire staff led by chief of staff Midas Capinig for their dedication and hard work in finding ways on how to best serve those seeking help from SAH.
