MANILA Mayor Honey Lacuna announced that the city’s hospital system once again became a source of pride for the city government.
The Sta. Ana Hospital (SAH) headed by its Director, Dr. Grace Padilla, bagged three gold medals and two silver medals in the recently-concluded 26th Search for the Most Outstanding Quality Improvement Studies (QIS) in Health facilities and the 12th Continuous Quality Improvement (CQl) poster contest.
The said hospital achieved the said gold and silver medals in the QIS category.
Alongside this, Lacuna said SAH also took home the 1st and 3rd prizes in the CQI poster category.
“Congratulations and more power! You made the City of Manila proud,” Lacuna, herself a doctor, said.
According to Padilla, it was the first time that the SAH has participated in quality research improvement studies.
She said the accomplishment was gained at the Philippine Society for Quality in Healthcare (PSQua) Midyear Convention held last June 1 and 2, 2023.
It was learned that the plaque of recognition for the said awards will be officially given in November 2023.
Meanwhile, Lacuna said that based on a report from Padilla, the SAH also performed free surgical operation to patients with cleft lip and palate problems.
This, Padilla said, is a result of the more than a decade of partnership between the city of Manila and “Operation Smile”
The SAH’s surgical program which Padilla said was undertaken with the help of the Rotary Club of Manila, took place from May 29 to June 2,2023.
A total of 97 patients came to the hospital and were screened. Of the number, 37 underwent operation and 40 got admitted, both Manilans and non-Manilans.
