Sta. Lucia acquires Pontillas

THE marching orders from Sta. Lucia’s front office was loud and clear: Get someone who can score at will.

As they prepare for the new club volleyball season, the Lady Realtors yesterday announced the acquisition of Aiza Maizo-Pontillas to bolster their offense which has been lacking in the previous campaigns.

We are proud and excited to welcome you into the team!,” the club posted on its social media accounts. “Your leadership, skills, and character will be a boost to our 2021 campaigns! LET’S GET IT!!! ?? #thisisSTALUCIA.

A native of Passi City, Iloilo, the 33-year old Maizo will reunite with her former Petron teammate Mika Reyes in Sta. Lucia, which is expected to announce more roster moves in a couple of days.

Maizo, a two-time UAAP women’s volleyball champion, has returned to Manila from her hometown earlier this week.

Two months ago, the Lady Realtors took Jovy Prado, Kai Baloaloa and Jonah Sabete to boost their stock.

Prado and Baloaloa will play for the Lady Realtors for the first time, while Sabete will return to the team that she played for two seasons. Sabate has already played for the team in a bubble beach volleyball tournament in Subic last weekend.

The trio previously suited up for PVL’s PetroGazz, having won a championship in 2019.

Reyes, MJ Phillips, Pam Lastimosa, Bang Pineda and Amy Ahomiro will lead Sta. Lucia, which lost Honey Royse Tubino, Aie Gannaban, Regine Arocha and Marist Layug during the long volleyball hiatus.
