Stray bullet wounds Ecija farmer in Ecija

GUIMBA, Nueva Ecija — A 48-year-old farmer was wounded after being hit by a stray bullet while sleeping inside his nipa hut here on Wednesday night.

Authorities identified the wounded victim as Roger Morales, widower, of Bgy. Sabit, this town.

Reports said the farmer was shot by an unknown caliber of gun while sleeping inside his nipa hit at 11:30 p.m.

Morales told police he was roused from sleep after experiencing pain and later saw blood oozing from his right leg.

Col. Marvin Joe C. Saro, provincial police director, said the victim was rushed to the Pacac District Hospital here for medical treatment and later transferred to the Dr. PJRMRMC in Cabanatuan City for the removal of the bullet from his leg.

Police are still investigating the incident.
