Strong Synergy Between Security Forces Led to the Surrender of BIFF Sub-Leader and 10 Followers in Maguindanao

Surrender of BIFF Sub-Leader

CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao – Following a massive surrender of Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighter combatants on December 17, 2021, another BIFF Field Commander and 10 of his followers decided to live peaceful lives as they surrender to government forces on December 18, 2021 at Barangay Kamasi, Ampatuan, Maguindanao.

Lieutenant Colonel Samuel Nadala Jr, Commanding Officer of 2nd Mechanized Battalion disclosed that Alias OB10 is a BIFF 2nd Division Field Commander under the Bungos Faction.

They were presented to Colonel Pedro Balisi Jr, Commander of 1st Mechanized Infantry Brigade, together with Hon Victor Samama, Municipal Mayor of Datu Piang, Maguindanao and Hon Nathaniel Midtimbang, former Mayor of Datu Anggal Midtimbang. The surrenderers brought along their high-powered firearms which include: two (2) 5.56mm M16 Rifles, one (1) 7.62mm M14 Rifle, one (1) Springfield Rifle, two (2) Garand Rifles, two (2) locally made RPGs and two (2) locally made Barret Sniper Rifles.

Lieutenant Colonel Charlie Banaag, Commanding Officer of the 6th Infantry Battalion said, “The surrender was successful through the strong synergy and through the harmonious cooperation of the 2MechBn and 6IB together with PLTCOL Neftaly Donato, OIC, RIU15, PRO-BAR and PLTCOL Lendsy Sinsuat, PIU, MAG-PPO.

Major General Juvymax Uy, Commander of the Joint Task Force Central and the 6th Infantry Division commended the efforts of both the government security forces and the Local Government Unit of Maguindanao. “The synergy between the security forces and the Local Government Unit manifests that we have an advantage in fighting against local terrorists in this part of the region. We can successfully thwart the enemies and stop them from committing dangerous acts through the cooperation of everybody. Rest assured the JTFC will continue to strengthen our relationships with the police and the LGUs and will never stop in hunting them down to ensure the safety of our people”, Maj. Gen. Uy added.
