Suspect in jewelry store owner’s holdup arrestes

OPERATIVES from the Manila Police District-Theft and Robbery Section arrested in a follow-up operation one of two holduppers who recently victimized a jewelry store in Sta. Cruz, Manila.

PCapt. Jerry Campo, chief of the MPD-TRS, said the suspect was nabbed in his home in Valenzuela City at around 11 p.m. the other night. He was identified as Ken Marbella, 45, of 924 Martinez St., Paseo De Blas,Valenzuela City.

Police said they are hunting down the suspect’s cohort whose name is being withheld in the meantime and who reportedly served as a lookout in the holdup of victim Deodulo Cay, 73, owner of a jewelry store located near the Pearl Hotel on C.M. Recto Avenue in Sta. Cruz.

It will be recalled that Cay was held up by a lone suspect while he was opening his store at around 7 a.m. His luxury bag containing about P1.5 million worth of jewelry and cash was taken.

The arrested suspect is now in the custody of the police and he will be charged with robbery- holdup before the Manila Prosecutor’s Office.
