Suspect in rape of girl,14, traced on wife’s FB account

AFTER six years in hiding , a man tagged in the rape of a 14-year old girl in Mandaluyong City was nabbed Saturday night after he was traced on the Facebook account of his wife who sold food products online in Cavite City.

Eastern Police District-District Special Operations Unit (EPD-DSOU) nabbed Arthur Nicolas, 27, electrician inside his house in Trece Martirez, Cavite City at around 7:30 pm.

Nicolas is listed as EPD’s No. 1 Most Wanted Person.

Police Staff Sergeant (PSGG) Rommel Fajutag said the arrest was made by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by Mandaluyong Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 214 Judge Imelda Portes –Saulog for charges of three counts of rape dated October 29,2014.

According to Fajutag, a 14-year old neighbor of accused Nicolas of raping her on three different occasions inside his rented apartment in Bgy. Malamig on 2013.

The last incident was discovered by the girl ‘s mother when he caught the suspect making sexual advances on her daughter.

Charges were filed against the suspect who went into hiding after his warrant of arrest was issued by the court on 2014.

The arrest was a result of cyber patrolling by the DSOU team on Facebook.

Fajutag explained they were able to trace Nicolas on the FB account of his wife.

A prober pretended to be a customer and sent messages to the suspect’s wife.

“Nung nakapalagayan ng loob yung wife ng ating impormante natin dahil gusto nga kumita sa online business nya , nang tanungin sya ng kanyang exact address kaagad naman nya itong binigay dahil wala siyang alam na wanted ang kanyang mister sa kasong rape dito sa Manila,” Fajutag said.

Police swooped down at the area and nabbed Nicolas who was then eating dinner with his family.

The suspect did not resist arrest and admitted raping the minor.

He is now detained at the Mandaluyong Police custodial facility with no bail recommended.
