Suspects’ CPs hoped to give clues on Dacera’s death

THE National Bureau of Investigation will examine the mobile phones of persons of interest in the death of flight attendant Christine Dacera.

Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra revealed this on Monday when asked by reporters to give updates on the sensational case.

Guevarra, however, failed to reveal the names of the persons of interest.

At the same time, Guevarra disclosed that the NBI has wrapped up the forensic examination on the remains of Dacera who was found dead in a Makati hotel last New Year.

The NBI has completed its forensic examination of tissues obtained from the subject’s remains. It is currently coordinating with the Makati Medical Center on related issues,” Guevarra said.

Guevarra officially tasked the NBI to join the Philippine National Police in probing Dacera’s death.

Dacera was found unconscious in the bathtub of her hotel room in Makati City on New Year’s Day following a party with friends the night before.

Hotel personnel tried to revive her before she was rushed to a hospital where she was declared dead.

Three suspects were arrested and were provisionally charged with the crime of rape with homicide before the Makati City Prosecutor’s Office.

But the prosecutor’s office ordered the release of the suspects pending results of a formal preliminary investigation.

The prosecutor’s office underscored the need to conduct regular preliminary investigation to determine the following facts: (1) whether Christine Angelica F. Dacera was raped and/or killed, and if yes, the identities of the persons responsible therefor, and; (2) whether the death was by reason or on occasion of rape or for other reasons – the actual cause of death.
