A 14-YEAR-OLD girl was found dead yesterday after diving into the Pasig River the other day in Sta.Ana, Manila.

The victim was a student and resident of ND Valderama Street, Barangay Bambang, Pasig City.

The Manila Police District-Homicide Section said the victim’s body was found at around 4:30 p.m. in the vicinity of the Pasig River, near the Alchemco Phil. Compound located at 2880 Lamayan St.,Sta. Ana.

A certain John Roland Lanuza told the police he found the body floating in the river and sought assistance from the security guard who informed Barangay Kagawad Diana Solana.

The barangay then informed the Sta. Ana Police Station.

Personnel from Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) led by Petty Officer 3rd Class Edner Ersando and the victim’s relative, Nathalia Percincula, 22, were then conducting a search and rescue operation aboard a speed boat when Lanuza signalled them.

Upon seeing the body, Percincula positively identified her as his niece. The body was brought by the PCG to the Lambingan Ferry Boat Station so she could be brought home and given a proper burial.
