Do aliens sometimes come to us with benevolent intent? Lynne Plaskett has had quite a run of things. A former councilwoman of the Volusia County Council, as well as two terms as Vice Mayor for the city of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, she has had a successful career, considered to be an expert on planning and zoning issues and still very much involved with a number of community organizations including Habitat for Humanity, the Salvation Army, the Council on Aging, and the Department of the Interior. She seems like a bright, engaging and successful figure in her community, and she also just happens to have her share of inexplicable experiences, such as the time she claims aliens cured her of cancer.
In 1975, Plaskett went in for a routine physical examination at the doctor’s but came away with very grim news. She was told that she had carcinoma in her uterus and that she would likely require a hysterectomy. A biopsy was performed and it would turn out that this procedure would not be needed, but they also found that she had a rare T-cell lymphoma in her neck, and not only that, it was estimated she likely had only about three months to live, as the cancer had spread to invade her entire body. This was crushing news, as she had a son and family, and wasn’t sure how to break this news to them. At first she didn’t, instead just going home and crying inconsolably in her bedroom, which at that time was in Long Beach, California. However, it would turn out that she was not as alone in that room as she had first suspected.

As she sat there lost in her despondency and weeping uncontrollably, she allegedly heard a strange buzzing noise, which sounded mechanical in nature. Curious as to where this sound was coming from, she looked around the seemingly empty room and that was when she noticed a mist filling the area, as well as a small, disc shaped object. She would say of her bizarre experience:
I’m lying in bed, and I hear this electronic buzzing sound behind me like it’s emanating from the wall. The room filled up with a fog-like smoke. I was levitated off my bed, and a disk-like object about 8 inches in diameter came in, hovered over me and passed three times down the length of my body but never touched me. It was almost as if it was examining me. I know it wasn’t God. I know it wasn’t of this Earth. It was alien in nature. Everything went back the way it was. The smoke cleared, I was back on my bed and I went to sleep. When I woke up the next morning I knew I was going to be all right. I knew I wasn’t going to die.
She says that at first she didn’t remember anything after this, waking up in her bed the next morning without any memory of what had happened at all. According to her, she just assumed she had fell asleep as usual, and at the time she couldn’t even recall the strange fog or the mysterious disc. When she went to see her doctor for a check-up on the progress of her cancer, it was found to have decreased drastically, much to the shock of all present. The cancer would continue to dwindle in the coming months, until after four months it was in complete remission. The doctors couldn’t believe it, but extensive scans and work-ups all came to the conclusion that this woman, who had not been expected to live long at all, was now mysteriously cancer-free.
Plaskett at the time did not relate this to her strange encounter at her home, and indeed she didn’t even remember that at the time. It would not be until 1981 that the memory would come back, after watching a show on UFOs in which she heard the same distinct buzzing sound she had heard. This brought her memories racing back to the top of her mind, and she would find out later that her sister had actually come home at the time and heard the buzzing too, but had been too nervous about opening the door. Even after remembering what had happened, Plaskett would keep the experience to herself before deciding to come out with it on a segment of the “Maury Povich Show” in 1996, which also happened to coincide with a reelection campaign she was running for the Volusia County Council. Her alien claims made major headlines at the time, and ultimately costed her the reelection, although she would go on to win election to the New Smyrna Beach City Commission in 2003.
As to her story of aliens curing her of cancer, what are we to make of this? Was this some sort of misguided publicity stunt or is there anything to it all? Plaskett has given proof from medical records that she indeed was diagnosed with cancer in April of 1975, and in fact did experience a complete remission with four days, but this apparently happened after she had started chemotherapy, which perhaps takes some of the mysterious edge off of it all. One skeptical oncologist by the name of Dr. Walter Durkin, has said of Plaskett’s remission:
Back then, we had reasonably good treatment for lymphoma. Lymphomas are very chemotherapeutically sensitive. Today, about 90 percent of lymphoma patients go into remission, and half are cured for good. Would a four-day turnaround seem unusual? No, Not at all. Cancer patients given little time to live often don’t know how to explain it if when they suddenly get better. They often fill that gap in their understanding with “recollections” of miracles or strange encounters. What she should be doing is encouraging people to get treatment because her doctor is the one who cured her.
So what are we dealing with here? Was this woman cured of cancer by aliens, and if so, why? Is this merely a publicity stunt or the rantings of a delusional mind? Is there something we are perhaps missing here? One thing that can be agreed upon is that Plaskett is a well respected former politician and member of the community, so would there be any reason for her to make any of this up? Is there a chance that she is mistaking her normal remission from cancer as something more mysterious? whatever the case may be, it certainly is an intriguing case, which remains unresolved.

Airliner encountered unidentified fast-moving cylindrical object over New Mexico
The event, and the pilot’s reaction to it, are remarkably similar to one that occurred in the same general area a few years ago.

American Airlines Flight 2292, an Airbus A320 flying between Cincinnati and Phoenix on February 21st, 2021, had a bizarre close encounter with what its crew described as a “long cylindrical object that almost looked like a cruise missile” moving extremely fast over the top of their aircraft as it cruised along at 36,000 feet and 400 knots. The incident occurred over the remote northeast corner of New Mexico, to the west of the tiny town of Des Moines.
Steve Douglass, an experienced radio interceptor and the proprietor of Deep Black Horizon, told The War Zone that he was recording from his arsenal of scanners when he heard the strange transmission. The War Zone has reviewed over an hour of audio that Douglass has provided to us from before and after the strange radio call. We are working to authenticate it from the FAA and get further information and comment from the agency on the event. We have also reached out to American Airlines for any additional details they can provide.

At approximately 1:19 CST on the Albuquerque Center frequency of 127.850 MHz or 134.750 MHz (recording wasn’t frequency stamped) the pilot reported: “Do you have any targets up here? We just had something go right over the top of us – I hate to say this but it looked like a long cylindrical object that almost looked like a cruise missile type of thing – moving really fast right over the top of us.”
According to Flight 24 and Flight Aware AAL 2292 was over the northeast corner of New Mexico west of Clayton, New Mexico. No reply was monitored by Albuquerque Center because local (Amarillo) air traffic walked on top of it. AAL 2292 was near flight level 370 (37k) at the time of the report.
No significant military aircraft presence was noted on ADS-B logs.
The aircraft flew on to land in Phoenix, AZ.

The incident is very similar to one that occurred in the same region almost exactly three years ago, which The War Zone was the first to report on. During that event, a Learjet and an Airbus both had consecutive close encounters with an unidentified object that flew over the top of them while cruising at around 37,000 feet over eastern Arizona. Later, the highly experienced Learjet pilot, which was flying for military contractor Phoenix Air, described to local news outlets just how strange the encounter was. His description is somewhat similar to the one from another odd encounter we reported on that occurred off of Long Island.
The description of a missile-like object also fits with some of the documented encounters U.S. Navy fighter pilots had with anomalous objects off the eastern seaboard throughout the last decade. The War Zone published official reports that we obtained through the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) as a result of our deeper investigation into seemingly unexplained encounters between U.S. Navy fighter crews and strange objects during that same period of time that mentions similar descriptions.
As to what the pilots aboard American Airlines Flight 2292 could have actually seen, we really cannot say at this time. Many will point out that New Mexico is home to the sprawling White Sands Missile Range (WSMR) along with a bevy of other military facilities, installations, and restricted areas. Still, the chances that a missile could have ‘gone off the reservation’ during a test or some other standard military explanation seems unlikely. There are procedures in place for this sort of thing and pilots would have been alerted to the safety hazard.
In addition, the notion that it could be some sort of clandestine aircraft is also highly improbable, as it would have been operating during the day and without communicating with air traffic control over unrestricted airspace. That being said, we need to point out that the Mount Dora Military Operating Area (MOA) is in that area, but the airline pilots would have been alerted to the airspace being ‘hot’ and to other potential conflicts. In addition, it isn’t a place where a munition like a cruise missile would be let loose.

The events over Northern California and Oregon in October 2017, another case that The War Zone broke, shows that there is at least some precedent for unknown aircraft operating in highly trafficked airspace, even up into the flight levels where airliners fly. In that case, F-15s were scrambled to investigate after the object was observed for a long period of time by multiple airliners. Years after our initial investigation into that incident, all of our sources say it remains unexplained even at the highest levels.

Close encounters of the short wave Radio Kind: Aliens and channeling

Within the field of “UFO Contactees,” “Space Brothers,” and “Space Sisters,” there are a number that are very well known. They include George Van Tassel, Dana Howard, Truman Bethurum, Mollie Thompson, Orfeo Angelucci, George King and Margit Mustapa. And they were just the tip of the iceberg. Then there are the far lesser-known experiences of a young man named Bob Renaud. On one particular night in July 1961 (just two months before the Betty and Barney Hill abduction), Renaud picked up an extraordinary message while “browsing around the shortwave bands” in his small, Massachusetts town. It began with a series of bleeps but was soon replaced by a female voice, which later identified herself as one Linn-Erri. So the story goes, the eighteen-year-old Renaud was told: “I am called Linn-Erri, and my associates and I come from the planet Korendor. We are speaking to you from our spaceship many miles above earth.”
As was the case in so many Contactee-themed cases of the 1950s and 1960s, Renaud had repeated and extensive chats with his newfound alien friends, many of which were focused on the aliens’ fears that we, the Human Race, were on the verge of destroying ourselves. Also closely following the trend of so many Contactees, Linn-Erri and her comrades took Renaud on trips to secret, alien installations, and taught him to create complex machines, one of which was somewhat akin to an old-style television set. It reportedly allowed Renaud to see Linn-Erri in the flesh, so to speak. She was a ravishing blond, who looked to be about nineteen years of age, but who claimed to be closer to her mid-seventies – in human years.
Greg Bishop and Adam Gorightly brought the story to a new generation in their 2018 book, “A” is for Adamski: The Golden Age of the UFO Contactees.” The pair wrote: “…Renaud received instructions on how to adjust his television set to receive visual transmissions from outer space and soon Linn-Erri materialized on the screen, a beautiful, statuesque blonde possessing the all too earthly dimensions of 37-22-36!” The adventures didn’t end there. Still with Gorightly and Bishop: “In the early morning hours of December 22, 1962, an average-looking car carrying some average looking fellows (Korendorians in disguise) picked up Renaud and took him for a ride to an isolated area where he was treated to a demonstration of an anti-gravity device that levitated a huge rock one hundred feet into the air and then disintegrated it with a ray gun.” Not only that, in quick time Renaud channeled no less than twelve books – all of which were focused on the philosophy and science of the Korendorians.
As for the specific appearance of the Korendians, we have this: “They were deep blue, almost indigo, with smaller pupils because of Korendor’s light being about 1/6 brighter at the Korendian surface than our sun’s on Earth. There were no discernible eyebrows (or in fact any hair at all). The skull structure over the eyes protruded more than a Terran’s, perhaps to shade the eyes from overhead sunlight. The ears were smaller in relation to the head than ours, lobeless and distinctly peaked at the top. They were pressed almost flat against the head. The nose was small, with slit nostrils. The mouth was slit-like, with lips that were less pronounced than ours, and slightly narrower in proportion to the jaw. It was curled upward in what on Korendor must pass for a smile.”
It’s not unreasonable to suggest that this could all have been provoked by nothing stranger than the late night, hormone-driven fantasies of a young man run wild. But, there is something that makes Bob Renaud’s story very intriguing. The name, Linn-Erri, is very similar to the Gaelic word, “Lionmhairreacht,” which is pronounced “Lin-errich” and that translates into English as “abundance.” On top of that, even the name of the aliens’ alleged home planet, Korendor, is worth commenting on. It’s a word very similar – if not near-identical – to the Gaelic “Cor-Endor,” which means “mound of Endor,” or as Whitley Strieber described it, “a place of oracle.”.
