The smuggled cigarettes 𝗕𝗢𝗖-𝗠𝗜𝗖𝗣 seizes smuggled cigarettes

AS part of the Bureau of Customs’ (BOC) drive to curb the smuggling of illegal cigarettes, the Bureau through the Manila International Container Port Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS) apprehended smuggled cigarettes.

Acting on derrogatory information, an alert order was issued against the shipment consigned to a certain MBS Cargo Movers and was originally declared as Personal Effects.

Examination of the shipment revealed that it actually contained 820 master cases of Astro brand cigarettes and was estimated to have a street value of P30 million.

Further inventroy and investigation is being conducted for the filing of cases for the possible violation of Section 1400 of RA 10863 also known as the Customs Modernization and Tarrif Act (CMTA).

As the nation recovers and gets back on track, the MICP remains vigilant in protecting the country’s borders form the entry of smuggled goods and the collection of lawful revenues under the guidance of BOC Commissioner Rey Leonardo B. Guerrero.
