THREE fake MTPB traffic enforcers nabbed in Tondo

Operatives from the Manila Police District (MPD)- Police Station 1 arrested three men posing as members of the Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau (MTPB) while mulcting truck drivers, in Tondo, Manila.

Station Commander PLtCol. Rosalino Ibay Jr. identified the suspects as Jericho Estares, 44 , construction worker, of Romana Ext Blk 3 Brgy 103; Mark Buzeta, 35, of No. 311 Innocencio Street and Almario Duque, 30, of 17C Maginoo St., all in Tondo, Manila.

The suspects were arrested on the complaint of truck driver Noel Batister,37. Ibay said that based on the investigation made by Pat. Jersan Manaloto, the truck driver sought help from his office regarding the extortion activitites of the suspects who were all wearing Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau (MTPB) uniforms.

For a traffic violation, the group reportedly demanded P1,000 instead of asking for the driver’s license. This raised suspicion on the part of the victim so that he went straight to the office of Ibay to complain.

Ibay dispatched a group of police who went to the area to observe. Once found positive for the accusation, they pounced on the suspects and they were able to recover the victim’s P1,000.

The suspects were charged with robbery extortion and usurpation of authority before the Manila Prosecutor’s Office.
