Trader shot dead in Navotas

A 46-YEAR-OLD businessman was shot dead by an unidentified gunman while talking to his neighbor Saturday morning in Navotas City.

Navotas police chief P/Col. Rolando Balasabas said Gualberto Arizala, Jr. 46, of Bkl 38, Lot 10, Phase 2, Area 4, Bgy. North Bay Boulevard South (NBBS) , Dagat-dagatan succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds in the body while being rushed by relatives to the Tondo Medical Center.

The incident occurred at around 6 a.m. while the victim and his neighbor Rolando Garcia, 53, tricycle driver, were having a conversation at Blk 38 Martiniko basketball court in Bgy. NBBS Dagat-dagatan.

Homicide investigator P/Cpl. Florencio Nalus said a gunman suddenly appeared at the corner ally of Block 38 and without a word shot Arizala repeatedly in the body.

After the killing, the suspect boarded a waiting motorcycle driven by his cohort then sped away towards Malabon city area.

Balasabas said operatives of the Kaunlaran Police Sub-Station immediately conducted a dragnet operation along Maya-Maya St. in Bgy. NBBS but they failed to arrest and identify wthe suspects.

Police recovered from the crime scene five empty shells for an unknown caliber of firearm while a follow-up investigation is still ongoing to determine the motive behind the killing.
