Truck drags woman to death!

A 31-YEAR-OLD woman met her tragic death after the bicycle she was riding was sideswiped and dragged by a 10-wheeler truck Tuesday afternoon in Navotas City.

Navotas police chief P/Col Rolando Balasabas said Lanie Baylon, 31, of Blk 21 Lot 5 Package 2 Area 1 Dagat-dagatan, died on the spot after her body was pinned between the rear tires of the truck with license plate number REP- 196 driven by Joel Tayamora, 40, resident of 871 Gulod Bagbaguin, Sta Maria, Bulacan.

Traffic investigator P/Cpl. Antonio Bugayong said the incident occurred at around 4:45 p.m. along the intersection of North Bay Boulevard and C-3 Road in Bgy. North Bay Boulevard South (NBBS) Proper.

Investigation showed that while the victim was riding her bicycle at the northbound lane of North Bay Boulevard approaching C-3 Road, a 10-wheeler truck which was traversing the same direction sideswiped her.

Due to the impact, the victim was dragged underneath the rear portion of the truck and was pinned between the four right wheels, killing her instantly.

Navotas police and local traffic enforcers arrested the truck driver and after investigation he was presented to the Navotas City Prosecutor’s Office for inquest proceedings on charges for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide.
