The Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (TUCP) salutes the extraordinary courage and professionalism of our affiliates in Cebu Pacific—the Juan Wing Association of the Philippines (JWAP-ALU-TUCP). JWAP, the sole and exclusive bargaining agent for cabin crew of Cebu Pacific, is a local of the Associated Labor Unions (ALU) and an affiliate of the TUCP. The brave pilots and cabin crew of Cebu Pacific Flight 5J 588, stood tall in the face of danger when their aircraft encountered landing gear issues after departing from Lapu-Lapu City on 8 March 2025.
“Amid fear and uncertainty, our brothers and sisters of JWAP-ALU-TUCP embodied the finest qualities of the Filipino spirit and brand of service—selfless bayanihan in going above and beyond their duty. They placed the safety and security of their passengers above their own lives, demonstrating unconditional professionalism when it mattered most. They proved the power of honest hard work to make a difference in the lives of those we serve,” stated TUCP President and House Deputy Speaker Raymond Democrito C. Mendoza (TUCP Party-list).
The country’s largest labor center TUCP commends the entire crew for their grace under pressure and unwavering commitment to the safety of every Juan and prays for safe skies for all.
