TUP student dies after falling off from 4th floor

A FEMALE student of the Technological University of the Philippines (TUP) died after falling off from the fourth floor of the College of Industrial Engineering (CIE) on San Marcelino Street in Ermita, Manila on Saturday morning.

PMSg Roderick Magpale of the Manila Police District -homicide identified the victim as a certain Michelle, 23, of Quezon City.

The incident reportedly took place at 9:22 a.m. after the victim mounted a chair and then jumped off from the fourth floor. She was wearing her uniform.

Another student who witnessed the incident told probers that before jumping off, the victim was seen hurriedly climbing up the stairs. The victim was described as the quiet type.

The victim was rushed to the Manila Doctors’ Hospital but died at 10:28 a.m.

It was learned that the incident happened a day after a ‘bomb threat’ was received by the university, particularly the CIE.

In its Facebook page, the TUP Manila Ministry on Campus, the following message was posted : “Today, we mourn the loss of a dear member of our TUP family. Her time with us was far too short, but her impact will forever be remembered. May Her soul find peace, and may we carry forward the kindness, dreams, and aspirations she shared with us.”

Meanwhile, the Manila Police District (MPD) is investigating the incident.
