Two dead in Manila in two days; one due to stab wounds, another for gunshot wound in the face

TWO persons, a man and a woman, were killed in separate incidents that took place in Manila on Monday and Tuesday.

The first victim, a 46-year-old woman, died instantly after a still unidentified man paid her a visit and then shot her in the face pointblank in her home in Sampaloc, Manila on Monday, for still unclear reason.

The victim, of San Jose Street, Sampaloc, died on the spot while the suspect, described as in his 30s, medium-built and dark-skinned, escaped after the incident.

According to PMSG Roderick Magpale of the Manila Police District (MPD)- Homicide Section, the victim’s body was found inside her home at 1:40 p.m. on Monday. She had a gunshot wound in the face near her nose and police theorize that she was killed during the early morning hours of that day.

Police said a female relative of the victim’s was able to talk to the victim through cellphone at 12:24 a.m. and that the victim had to end their conversation to answer a knock on the door.

Meantime, a CCTV footage in the area showed by the victim’s 28-year-old businessman-son showed that at the said time, a man was seen entering the victim’s garage and when the victim opened the door, the man drew a gun, fired at the victim once and then fled on foot toward an unknown direction.

Based on initial investigation, the possible motive behind the crime may be an old grudge.

At around 2 a.m. on Tuesday, a man attending the wake of a neighbor was stabbed dead during the course of a heated verbal exchange the cause of which remains unclear.

The 57-year-old victim, of Estrada Street, San Andres Bukid, Manila, was rushed to the nearest hospital but eventually died due to multiple stab wounds in the different parts of the body.

The suspect, a certain ‘Jeff,’ 27, of Radium Street also in San Andres Bukid, escaped.

Homicide prober PSMS Jason Ibasco of the Manila Police District (MPD) Homicide Section said the incident took place at 1:50 a.m. at a wake being held at the corner of Sagrada Familia and Granate Streets in San Andres Bukid.

Police said both the victim and suspect were attending the said wake when the victim joined a game of cara y cruz while the suspect engage in a drinking session.

Moments later, the two began arguing and throwing punches at each other.

The suspect then took out a knife and with it stabbed the victim repeatedly. The victim was rushed to the nearest hospital but subsequently died.
