UNITED City FC may have lost Manny Ott but the reigning Philippines Football League champions will still have his young Mike Ott to boost their campaign.
The 26-year old Mike Ott will be returning as midfielder for the UCFC as it prepares for the 2021 season, which is highlighted by its debut in the AFC Champions League.
Mike Ott hopes to offset the departure of his elder brother Manny, who is now linked with Malaysia’s top-tier team Melaka United.
The club also announced the signings of defender Jordan Jarvis, goalkeeper Jun Badelic, midfielders Pika Minegishi, Angelo Marasigan and Arnie Pasinabo.
UCFC hopes to bring back skipper Stephan Schrock and Spanish striker Bienve Marañon in its fold.
In its maiden AFC Champions League stint, UCFC will face Japan’s Kawasaki Frontale, China’s Beijing Guoan FC, and either South Korea’s Daegu FC or Thailand’s Chiangrai United FC in Group I of the top-tier continental football tournament next month.
The team earned the right to represent the Philippines in the AFC Champions League after ruling the PFL last November.
Meanwhile, the PFL and the Games and Amusements Board on Tuesday have conducted a site inspection on Stallion Laguna FC’s home pitch at the Biñan Football Stadium in preparation for the eventual return to training of PFL clubs.
