THE PNP-Aviation Security Group (AVSEGROUP) announced that an unexploded 81mm high-explosive mortar was discovered by construction workers at the Nayong Pilipino Complex in Pasay City over the weekend.
AVSEGROUP Director, PBGEN Jay Cumigad said that the corroded mortar which was found on Saturday afternoon, was safely transported to the AVSECU Headquarters for proper disposal.
He said the PNP Aviation Security Explosives Ordnance Disposal and Canine Unit (PNP AVSECU) promptly responded and conducted a Render Safe Procedure in the area where the mortar was found.
Cumigad said the incident highlights the importance of vigilance and quick response to ensure public safety.
“Rest assured that AVSEGROUP remains committed to securing our communities from all forms of threats,” he stated.
