Cagayan de Oro City – A new collaboration between the Department of Science and Technology-Region 10 (DOST-10) and the Cagayan de Oro City Jail – Male Dormitory (CDOCJ-MD) was formalized with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) yesterday at the facility. The agreement was signed by Engr. Ruel Vincent C. Banal, OIC-Provincial Director of DOST Misamis Oriental, and JCSUPT CESAR M LANGAWIN, Regional Director of the Jail Bureau, in the presence of JSUPT WILLIAM T MANENGYAO, DPA, City Jail Warden. This partnership launches the “Utilization of High-Density Production and Processing Technologies of African Catfish for Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL)” project, which is backed by an allocated budget from the approved Line-Item Budget.
The initiative is set to significantly benefit the PDL at Cagayan de Oro City Jail-Male Dormitory by addressing their economic and personal development needs. By integrating high-density production and processing technologies for African Catfish, the project aims to provide PDL with practical skills in aquaculture and food processing. This training not only equips them with valuable vocational skills but also offers potential for self-sufficiency and future employment opportunities. Additionally, the technical and financial support from DOST-X will foster a positive impact on their overall well-being, contributing to their rehabilitation and reintegration into society.
