SCIENCE CITY OF MUŇOZ – “It all boils down to the government’s anti-COVID-19 national vaccination program.”
Thus stressed Taguig-Pateros Rep. Alan Peter Cayetano as he said here on Saturday that the government’s vaccination program must come first and be prioritized ahead of any political ambitions or any other issues such as charter change, imposition of the death penalty or the scrapping of the party-list system.
“Kung before New Year and Christmas ang pinag-uusapan ay did someone drop the ball, hindi na ako nakihalo doon para walang finger-pointing pero very very strongly, ang grupo namin sa Congress ang nag-sasabing eyes on the ball. At ano ba iyung ball? Ito ang vaccination program,” said Cayetano.
Cayetano flew here with his wife, Taguig 2nd district Rep. Lani Cayetano and led the distribution along with Rep. Mikaela “Mikki” Violago and City Mayor Nestor Alvarez of 208 grocery packs and 50 mountain bikes to barangay health workers and barangay chairmen.
It was part of Cayetano’s “Bayanihan sa Nueva Ecija” program which serves as his tribute to these barangay frontliners for helping in the government’s anti-COVID-19 efforts.
In an interview with newsmen, “Kuya Alan” admitted “having no political plans yet for 2022” unless there is a “concrete” vaccination program already laid out by the government for the people against the coronavirus-19 disease.
“Kahit anong plano, kahit travel plan mo, business o political, walang mangyayari diyan kapag hindi natin inayos iyung vaccination plan,” he said.
“Although lumalabas na yung surveys tungkol sa presidentiables at saka sa local na nagpapasurvey na, ako na ang nag-a-advise sa kanila bilang isang taong 29 years na sa pulitika, vaccination ang tutukan natin kasi kung wala iyun, wala kang pag-uusapan na 2022, kawawa ang tao,” the congressman said.
Cayetano stressed that it all boils down to the implementation of the anti-COVID-19 national vaccination program first above anything else.
“COVID-19 is all about the effects sa buhay at kabuhayan, health and livelihood. Kung ang ibang bansa ay nag-ro-roll-out na ng vaccination program, at magbubukas na iyung ekonomiya at tayo, hindi pa, aanhin po ang benepisyo ng economic reforms sa Cha-cha, o yung death penalty, yung sinasabi na babaguhin sa Konstitusyon para sa party-list. Lahat po na iyan ay may merit pero iyung timing po ay mali,” he explained.
The Taguig-Pateros solon maintained that “we should keep our eyes on the ball” which is the vaccination program.
“Dapat ang tinututukan na natin ngayon kung anong klaseng vaccine, paano mapaparating, paano idi-distribute, ang dami pong tanong pa,” Cayetano added.
After the distribution here, Cayetanos’ group went to nearby San Jose City and met City Mayor Mario “Kokoy” Salvador for a similar activity granting 100 grocery packs to the beneficiaries.
Earlier,they were also in Malolos City and in Pulilan both in Bulacan province for the distribution of about 289 gift packs to barangay health workers.
