The provinces of the Philippines are not known for their gourmet pizza. They’re not known for pizza at all. International cuisine is reserved for the cities and for tourist destinations.
So I took a trip around the province of Davao Oriental to see what I could find.
OK – so I am lying a little bit. This is the best pizza in Cateel and Baganga. I am sure Mati can outdo the two provincial towns here. But Mati is a long way away, so I searched in the 30km radius of the beach. That’s 4 shops. All but one do not specialize in pizza.
Because pizza is not a big thing out here, except for for me.
A whole day (and the previous evening) of only eating pizza complete, I had to judge for the best.
Difficult. But a revelation about food in the province.
OK, how can I build a pizza oven again?
