CHARGES of sedition and grave threat were filed by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) before the Department of Justice (DOJ) against Vice President Sara Duterte, in connection with the assassination threat against President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr., First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos and House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
The case was filed before the office of Prosecutor General Richard Fadullon of the DOJ, after it was recommended by five lawyers of the NBI led by NBI Director Jaime Santiago.
“Nai-file na po natin sa DOJ at nasa DOJ na ang bola ngayon. Ide-determine nila kung magko-conduct sila ng preliminary investigation at kung kailangan i-file ang case sa court,” Santiago said.
The case stemmed from the statements issued by Duterte in a zoom press conference aired over some social media platforms, where she said that in case she gets killed, she had already talked to someone to also have the President, First Lady and House Speaker killed.
Duterte did not attend the NBI query and instead sent a letter through her lawyer.
The National Prosecution Service will study the case and the evidence before setting a date for the conduct of a preliminary investigation.
