“LILIWANAG at liliwanag ang buong Kamaynilaan.”

Thus vowed Mayor Honey Lacuna, as she and third district Congressman Joel Chua led the continuing streetlighting activity held the other night at the corner of LacsonAvenue and Aragon Street across the Fugoso Health Center in the third district of Manila.

Lacuna, who was joined by Vice Mayor Yul Servo, social welfare chief Re Fugoso and Councilor Fa Fugoso, among others, assured Manilans that the city government will not stop lighting up all the dark roads and streets to better protect them against the bad things that darkness brings.

The lady mayor expressed belief that darkness is an ally of criminal elements and may also cause accidents particularly for motorists.

On Wednesday night, she led the lighting up of the second portion of A.H. Lacson Avenue from Laon-Laan Street to Rizal Avenue covering the third district of Manila.

Last month, the city lighted up the first part of the said avenue from Espana Boulevard to Laon-Laan, under District 4.

In her short message, Lacuna thanked City Engineer Armand Andres, City Electrician Randy Sadac and Meralco for making the city government’s extensive streetlighting project possible.

According to Andres, the city installed at the center island 12 sets of 25-foot street lampposts, double arm, with 24 pieces of 200 watts warm white LED streetlights.

On both sides of the sidewalks, installed were 42 sets of 27-foot street lampposts double arm, with 42 pieces of 100 watts wam white, LED streetlights, Andres said.
