Winwyn plays most challenging role

WINWYN Marquez gets to play her most challenging movie role ever in “Nelia”, a film produced by a new company called A & Q Productions and directed by Lester Dimaranan in his full length film mainstream debut.

“‘Nelia’ is about mental illness, depression and anxiety,” says Dimaranan who has directed mainly short films before. “The writer and producer, Atty. Melanie Quino, is a friend and this is a big break for me.”

When she learned that the story is about a woman with multiple personalities, Winwyn had to ask the director: “Are you sure I’m the actress you want to get for this role? Kasi very challenging siya. But they made me read the full script and after I did, I said yes kasi it would be foolish for any actress na pakawalan ang ganito kagandang role. I have to thank them for the opportunity to play a challenging role like this na, for the first time for me, ako pa ang title roler.”

So how did she prepare for her demanding role as the deranged heroine, “Nelia”?

“I have to immerse myself as Nelia, kasi before, lagi akong contravida and I’m currently in ‘Owe My Love’, a romcom where I do comedy naman. As Nelia, I have to show a roller coaster of varied emotions. I’m preparing for the role by watching movies of Rosamund Pike like ‘Gone Girl’ and ‘I Care a Lot’. I have also consulted psychologist friends kung paano kumilos ang isang taong may mental illness kasi they are experts in that field. I have to let go of my past characters to be able to get into the character of Nelia.”

The movie is presented like a suspense-thriller. A crime is committed and you don’t know who among the various characters are good or bad.

“Maraming twists and turns ang story so it’s not predictable,” adds Winwyn. “Nelia is very unpredictable. You don’t know kung protagonist ba siya or antagonist. It’s difficult to understand her and the other characters. Sino ba ang mabait at sino ang masama dito sa movie? What‘s really happening inside the hospital? Very challenging ang material and I really hope I can give justice to my character.”

Ka Tunying emphasizes the importance of having own home

ANTHONY Taberna is now with DZRH after his “Dos Por Dos” radio show on DZMM with Gerry Baja was affected by the non-renewal of ABS-CBN’s franchise. The fans of their hard-hitting tandem continue to listen to them faithfully for their meaningful and relevant observations about the latest and hottest issues of the day.

Ka Tunying is also happy that his 11-year old eldest daughter, Zoey, who had leukemia, is now free of the ailment totally. He and his wife Rossel are so thankful to the Lord and to all the people who prayed with them for the complete healing of their daughter.

We saw Ka Tunying as he is launched as the ambassador of P.A. Properties, a top real estate developer in the country with classy but affordable house and lots for sale in San Pedro and Sta. Rosa, Laguna, Cavite, Pampanga and Bulacan. You can also watch his launch on their Facebook page and on “Tune in to Ka Tunying” Youtube channel.

Properties. Kaya pumayag akong maging brand ambassador nila dahil sa paniniwalang kung kaya ng iba to have your own home, kaya mo rin even during this pandemic sa low cost housing nila. #KayaAll!”

The chairman of the board of P. A. Properties, Romarico “Bing” Alvarez, is asked why they got Ka Tunying as their endorser.

“Very inspiring ang story niya,” he says. “Sa personal experience niya, he said he started from nothing, mahirap mangupahan. Naikuwento niya ang hirap ng mga mag-asawang walang sariling bahay. He’s a responsible man who embodies the hardworking Filipino. On his own, nakapagpundar siya at nagkaroon ng sariling bahay.”

He adds that Ka Tunying is a very credible endorser. “He can really relate to a wide variety of listeners, from professionals to regular wage earners and even OFW’s, so siya ang napili namin as the most accessible ambassador who will help us in our goal to support our kababayans in their dream to have their own home at very affordable monthly amortizations.”
