Woman collared for posting derogatory remarks on FB

SANTIAGO, Ilocos Sur — A 26-year-old woman was nabbed by the police Thursday night for allegedly posting derogatory remarks on Facebook in Brgy. Bigbiga, Santiago.

Police chief Lt. Godofredo Ribuyaco, identified the arrested suspect as Aliza Gasatan AKA “Arah Ancheta“, 26, of Silag, Sta. Maria.

Ribuyaco said the suspect denied the charges, claiming that someone posted a comment using her FB account.

The suspect claimed she was not the one who posted it, but when we checked in their barangay, the people there certified that she was the same Aliza Gasatan,” said Ribuyaco in a telephone interview.

Ribuyaco said that the name in the warrant of arrest was different but the picture of the suspect was the same of that Gasatan’s.

Gasatan eventually admitted that she was the same person, so we arrested her,” said the chief of police.

The court sets bail at P80,000 bail bond for the suspect’s temporary liberty.

A report said joint personnel of the Santiago PNP and Baguio City Police Office arrested Gasatan for violation of Section 4 of RA 10175, (Cybercrime) by virtue of a Warrant of arrest issued by Ivan Kim B Morales, Judge of Additional Family Court, Baguio City, Benguet dated February 22, 2021.

The accused is now under the custody of Santiago PNP station for proper disposition.
