Women in sports at TOPS

THE Tabloids Organization in Philippine Sports (TOPS) continues to pay tribute to outstanding women in sports by hosting Commissioner Celia Kiram of the Philippine Sports Commission and two other sports heroes in the “Usapang Sports on Air” via Zoom this Thursday.

Kiram, the “voice of women sports” in the leading government sports agency, will talk about PSC’s activities to celebrate outstanding female sports achievers during the “International Women’s Month” celebration.

Also attending the 10 a.m. public service program sponsored by the PSC, Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) and Games and Amusements Board (GAB) are Philippine Sports Hall of Fame nominee Elma Muros-Posadas and mixed martial arts superstar Lara Pearl Alvarez of Team Lakay.

Muros-Posadas, known as the “Long Jump Queen of the Philippines“, is a legendary track and field athlete who won a record 15 Southeast Asian Games and estabm7shed several national records.

The 54-year-old pride of Magdiwang, Romblon continues to provide inspiration as part of the PSC’s grassroot sports development program.

Alvarez, a noted taekwondo and wushu champion during her college days, is one of only two Filipino contestants in the One Championship edition of popular reality show The Apprentice.

The 22-year-old pride of Baguio City was among the16 candidates from 11 countries that were announced to join the global hit TV reality show.

TOPS president Ed Andaya of People’s Tonight is inviting all officers and members, and friends in the sports community, to join the weekly public service program shownon Facebook and YouTube.

This is the 10th session for the year of TOPS, which is composed of editors, columnists, reporters and photographers of the country’s leading national tabloids and blogger-friends from different social media groups.

Last week, TOPS opened women’s month celebrations by guesting the Negrense Abanse duo of Alexa Polidario and Erjane Magdato, who ruled the Gatorade-PSL Beach Volleyball Challenge Cup in Subic.
