Following the winding up of the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI), the Bureau of Customs (BOC) announced having taken full custody of eight high-value vehicles worth approximately ₱143 million.
BOC Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno, assures that all seized assets remain under strict government custody and are managed in accordance with the law.
It was learned that the vehicles were seized on January 8, 2026 during a BOC operation in Taguig City and that through the implementation of court-issued search warrants for probable violations of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA), authorities located and inventoried the luxury units across a multi-level parking facility.
Following the operation, the vehicles were placed under a Warrant of Seizure and Detention (WSD) and transferred to the ICI facility in Bonifacio Global City for temporary safekeeping due to space constraints at the Port of Manila.
Despite being stored offsite, the BOC maintained full custody and control over the units through its personnel, with security support from the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).
The transfer to the Port of Manila became possible after the BOC successfully disposed of other seized vehicles through recent auctions, freeing up space to accommodate the units previously stored at the ICI facility.
As ICI winds up, the BOC promptly moved the vehicles to ensure they remain under direct government custody.
Nepomuceno said that prior to the transfer, the BOC filed the required manifestation before the court, ensuring that all actions were carried out in accordance with legal procedures.
