BI to deport ‘Alabang Boys’

EIGHT illegal aliens arrested in a recent operation conducted in a village in Muntinlupa City are set to be deported by the Bureau of Immigration (BI).

BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado said the aliens comprised of six Chinese men, one Vietnamese man and a Chinese woman. They were arrested last October 22 by operatives of the BI’s intelligence division headed by Fortunato ‘Jun’ Manahan, Jr.

The operation was conducted in cooperation with the Department of Justice (DOJ) inter-agency council against trafficking (IACAT) and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) National Capital Region (NCR).

“The homeowner association representatives of the Ayala Alabang Village were very helpful in helping us verify target areas,” said Viado, adding that the suspects were arrested in three separate streets inside the village.

The DOJ and the NBI earlier shared that the eight were found with items involved in online scamming.

“We have found reason to file deportation cases against them,” said Viado. “They will be considered undesirables once their cases are resolved, and face deportation,” Viado said.

He added that the bureau received information that smaller ‘pockets’ of scamming hubs are forming after the closure of big POGO hubs in the country and as such, the BI is working closely with the DOJ and other local law enforcement agencies ensure that syndicate members are arrested and deported.

All eight were found to be undocumented even as two of them were also found to be overstaying, while one was suspected to be an illegal entrant.
