Give PBBM, Maharlika a chance – Manila Congressman Chua

LET us give President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. and Maharlika a chance.

This call was made by Manila third district Congressman Joel Chua, as he frowned on constant political bickerings and unnecessary attacks on President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.

Speaking at the ‘Balitaan sa MayniLove’ news forum held by the Manila City Hall Reporters’ Association (MACHRA), Chua, who openly supported then Mayor Isko Moreno during the last presidential elections, stressed that the elections should be for just one day, after which all Filipinos must unite behind whoever wins.

The neophyte Congressman said all Filipinos should all bear in mind that if the Presidency fails, the entire country follows in as much as if President Marcos, Jr. succeeds, so will the whole nation.

“Paniniwala po natin, tapos na eleksyon. Nagsalita na po ang taumbayan. 31 million po ang bumoto sa ating Presidente so bakit di natin bigyan ng pagkakataon na mamuno naman. Di naman pupuwede na kontra ka lang ng kontra dahil magkaiba kayo ng partido. Tapos na eleksyon, isang araw lang ‘yan. Pagkatapos po niyan, at the end of the day, pag ang Presidente po natin ay nagkamali, lahat tayo apektado,” he said.

Relatedly, Chua also told the forum that the Maharlika Investment Fund being pushed by the national government deserves a chance.

“Ako, bumoto na ‘yes’ to Maharlika and I have my own reason. Nung una, ayaw ko din, nung isinasama nila ang GSIS and SSS. Ayoko dahil ang tatamaaan ay taumbayan but nung tinanggal and when they presented to us, gusto nila magkaroon ng investment, more on pagiinvestan ay infra that will generate income, I supported it,” he said.

Chua cited as an example the need to rehabilitate the premier international airport, saying: “Sa totoo lang, ang pangit ng airport natin, nakakahiya, pag pumunta ka sa ibang bansa. It’s high-time na mag-invest tayo diyan.”

“Sa akin kasi, we have to understand. Naghahanap ng pera ang gobyerno. Pag ang gobyerno walang pera, wala ding magagawang proyekto. ‘Yung 4Ps alone, magkano kailangan. Ang mga ospital kailangang i-maintain,” Chua explained, adding that if he would have his way, he would want a super hospital per region like the Philippine General Hospital so that those in need no longer have to travel all the way to Manila.
