OPERATIVES from the Manila Police District (MPD)-Station 1 under station commander PLtCol Rosalino Ibay nabbed a member of a syndicate said to be involved in the foiled attempt to sneak into the country via the Port of Manila some P1.8 bilion worth of shabu sometime in 2019.
Ibay said nabbed along Escolta in Sta. Cruz, Manila was suspect Brian Pabilona ,38, of San Juan City. The arrest was made at around 10 a.m. while the suspect was walking near the Centenial Building on Escolta.
Pabilona, he said, has an arrest warrant to his name, issued by the Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 13 which recommended no bail for his provisional liberty.
It will be recalled that authorities from the Bureau of Custom (BOC) intercepted a 40-footer container van which yielded 300 kilos of suspected shabu placed inside several sacks.
Prior to this, the contents of the van were reported to be consigned to a certain Wheat Lotus Empire Corporation and the contents were declared as plastic resin.
However, an inspection made by the PDEA and the BOC showed that the contents are actually illegal drugs.
Ibay said a follow-up operation is underway to establish who else are involved and continue to roam free.
