The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) continues with the disbursement of cash relief assistance (CRA) to tricycle drivers across Metro Manila on Friday (March 20) as part of ensuring all listed beneficiaries are provided with aid.
Numerous tricycle drivers are still claiming their Php5,000 cash assistance at various payout sites, including the Marikina Hotel and Convention Center and Risen Garden, Quezon City.
Ongoing payouts are also being conducted in Caloocan and Parañaque City.
A total of 9,324 listed tricycle drivers are expected to receive cash assistance within the day.
The provision of CRA is in line with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. for government agencies to work together to provide assistance to public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers experiencing crisis in their livelihood due to escalating oil prices. (KB)
DSWD’s cash relief assistance rollout for more Metro PUV drivers begins Tuesday
After completing the cash relief assistance (CRA) payout for tricycle drivers in Metro Manila, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is set to resume its payout for other public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers on March 24, starting with Transport Network Vehicle Services (TNVS) drivers.
Secretary Irene Dumlao, the DSWD spokesperson, announced on Friday (March 20).
As of March 20, more than 34,000 TNVS drivers, 20,000 jeepney drivers, 83,000 delivery riders, and 34,000 motorcycle (MC) taxi riders in the National Capital Region are projected to receive CRA next week.
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has instructed the DSWD to provide cash aid to all PUV drivers who are among the hardest hit sector by the continuing increase in the prices of oil due to the worsening geopolitical crisis in the Middle East.
The DSWD is continuously coordinating with the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) for assistance to other PUV drivers in other regions.
Secretary Dumlao stressed.
During the first week of CRA payout, 90,680 tricycle drivers in Metro Manila received Php5,000 each to help cushion the impact of the increasing prices of fuel products.
The CRA is being implemented by the DSWD under its Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program which serves as a social safety net or stop-gap mechanism to support the recovery of individuals and families who are experiencing unexpected crisis. (AKDL)
98,000 NCR tricycle drivers benefit from DSWD’s Php5k cash relief assistance
A total of 98,007 tricycle drivers plying routes in the National Capital Region (NCR) have received their Php5,000 cash relief assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) following the successful completion of its first week of payouts in partnership local government units (LGUs) in NCR.
Director Edwin Morata of the Crisis Intervention Program (CIP) reported to DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian and Undersecretary Pinky Romualdez of the DSWD’s Operations Group that out of the 122,050 tricycle drivers listed in the Department’s clean list, 81 percent have already received their cash aid.
“As we end our four-day payout po, almost 81% po or 98,007 beneficiaries po ang nabayaran natin out of the 122,050 clean list po natin,” Director Morata said on Saturday (March 21).
Director Morata also noted that the first week of the DSWD’s payout operations proceeded smoothly and in an orderly manner.
Based on the initial assessment of the CIP, a total of 18,344 variances were recorded across the 17 Metro Manila LGUs, representing drivers who were unable to claim their cash aid.
The LGU of Muntinlupa City reported that it will continue its payout operations next week, with approximately 6,000 remaining tricycle drivers expected to be served.
Director Morata emphasized that all unpaid drivers listed in the clean list will be scheduled for another payout date, alongside additional beneficiaries to be endorsed by the LGUs and their respective Tricycle Operators and Drivers Associations (TODAs).
Ang sabi po ni Secretary Rex Gatchalian dapat immediate ito,” Director Morata said during his visit to the Marikina City payout site on Friday (March 20).
The Department will continue coordinating with LGUs and TODAs for their updated list of beneficiaries who are qualified to receive the cash relief assistance but were not included in the first submitted list to the DSWD’s Central Office.
Following the first week of payouts, the DSWD is now preparing for the distribution of cash assistance to Transport Network Vehicle Services (TNVS) drivers, delivery riders, public utility jeepney (PUJ) drivers, and motorcycle taxi drivers residing in NCR) which will commence on Tuesday (March 24).
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTRFB) is currently firming up its list of PUV drivers in coordination with the DSWD.
“Ngayon inaayos na natin ang listahan with the help of LTFRB. Most probably maglalabas tayo ng bagong advisory on what will happen next week,” Director Morata emphasized.
In line with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., and under the supervision of DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian, the Department will begin distributing Php5,000 cash assistance to 34,153 registered TNVS drivers on March 24, followed by 26,000 PUJ drivers on Wednesday (March 25), 76,000 delivery riders on Thursday and Friday (March 26–27), and motorcycle taxi drivers on Saturday (March 28).
(KB)
