HE did it in Metro Manila and would be doing it nationwide soon.
This is the 4-Minute Workout’ instituted by new Philippine National Police chief General Debold M. Sinas in different camps and stations of the National Capital Region Police Office to keep the police mentally and physically fit as they perform their anti-crime duties 24/7.
Gen. Sinas said the simple 4-minute workout program was designed to sustain the physical well-being of all members of the police force while they are inside their camps, stations and sub-stations.
The daily workout requires every police personnel to stand up, stop everything they do and do some stretching or jumping jacks whenever they hear music topped by the 25th PNP chief’s favorite Japanese anime ‘Voltes V.’
The routine begins with seated exercises such as marches, scissors and squats before virtually progressing to calisthenics, all to the tune of the extended cut of the ‘Voltes V’ theme song.
The music is set every 10 a.m. and 3 pm. daily to aid one’s blood circulation and help in reducing hypertension. It was first launched last February 17 prior to the declaration of the Enhanced Community Quarantine in Metro Manila and other parts of the country by President Duterte.
The program was one of the several initiatives of Gen. Sinas to ensure the health and safety of NCRPO’s frontliners in the battle against the unseen deadly virus.
“We are glad that the 4-Minute Workout helps in strengthening our personnel’s body alongside their own personal workout activities. Healthy and capable police officers and our best asset in maintaining peace and order in the community while also fighting the unseen enemy,” he said.
Gen. Sinas said his weight went down by 35 pounds since he instituted the program, thus the need to implement it among his men.Publication Source : People's Journal
