Despite having been bypassed by the Commission on Appointments (CA), Erwin Tulfo vowed to continue working hard as Department of Social Welfare and Development Secretary.
Tulfo bared in a news forum that he had sought guidance from President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. and was told to just continue with his work.
It was learned that the appointment that Tulfo had signed expires in March 2023 yet.
Tulfo said that even if his appointment had not been confirmed by the CA, he will not allow himself to be distracted from work and that he is still ready to serve the country.
The DSWD Secretary said that the ball is in the hands of the legislative and not the executive department.
Regarding the libel cases that were raised as an issue against his appointment, Tulfo said they were related to his job as a journalist and that the ‘moral turpitude’ issue involved applies to those who hold elective office and not appointive, as in his case.
