Angels acquire Molina

NATIONAL team mainstay Ces Molina has signed with PetroGazz, the team announced through its social media accounts Tuesday night.

After playing in a rival club league for seven years, the 5-foot-9 Molina will bring her wares in the now-pro Premier Volleyball League.

The Angels have also acquired Remy Palma to complete their middle position with Ria Meneses, who already signed with the team late last week.

Now already with 13 players in the roster, PetroGazz earlier got the services of multi-awarded libero Kath Arado and erstwhile University of the East standouts Mean Mendrez and Seth Rodriguez.

A two-time NCAA Best Blocker awardee from San Beda who settled as an outside spiker after college, the 26-year old Molina will bring the much-needed leadership for the Angels in the PVL, which is plotting to open its new season in a bubble on April 10.

Molina represented the Philippines in the 2019 ASEAN Grand Prix, where the country won the bronze medal, and played in the 2017 and 2019 Southeast Asian Games. The Cabanatuan City native also suited up in the 2016 FIVB Women’s World Club Championships.

The 5-foot-10 Palma, a product of Far Eastern University, is expected to be vocal on the court for PetroGazz.

Like Molina, Palma will also make her PVL debut.

Gone from the Angels are outside hitter Jonah Sabete, middle blockers Jeanette Panaga and Cherry Nunag, Kai Baloaloa and opposite spiker Jovie Prado.

Panaga and Nunag have already moved to Creamline and Perlas, respectively.

PetroGazz also announced the appointment of Yani Fernandez, coach Kungfu Reyes’ trusted assistant in University of Santo Tomas’ women’s and girls’ volleyball teams, as one of the members of the coaching staff led by Arnold Laniog.
