OPERATIVES from the Manila Police District-Station 11 arrested a 69-year-old man said to be involved in robbery-extortion activities victimizing businessmen in Binondo, Manila with the aid of a policeman who is now the subject of a police manhunt.
A report from MPD-Station 11 Commander Lt.Col. Inocencio Richard Villanueva showed that the suspect was identified as Eduardo Chua, who claimed to be a market researcher and residing at 354 Gunao St., corner Arlegui St., Quiapo, Manila.
He was nabbed in an entrapment operation conducted at 8:15 p.m. inside the McDonald’s Fastfood Restaurant located along Juan Luna Street in Plaza Ruiz, Binondo, Manila.
MPD spokesman Maj. Philipp Ines said that the suspect had been charged with Violation of Article 293 of the Revided Penal Code (Robbery-Extortion) while the latter’s alleged cohort, a cop assigned at the CIDG Eastern Metro Manila- District Field Unit, remains at large.
The entrapment was laid out based on a complaint filed by a 44-year-old Chinese-Filipino property manager in Binondo, Manila.
When arrested, police found on him P200,000 in two bundles and a cellphone.
The processing of the suspect was done by PMSg Ryan DL Fortich, PSSg Mark Anthony S Alata,Duty STOC and PCapt. Florante Raquino, Jr.
It was learned that Chua had been the subject of similar complaints by other Binondo-based businessmen.
He reportedly uses a PNB bank account (#165-270-002-250) in his operations, under his own name and with the help of the said policeman who is now being hunted down by the police.
Maj. Ines meanwhile urged other victims to come forward and also lodge their complaints against the arrested suspect.
