Viewers prefer laugh-inducing romcoms on primetime

Lovi Poe and Benjamin Alves

LOVI Poe is all smiles these days because her romcom series, “Owe My Love”, is rating very well weeknights on GMA Telebabad. The Kapuso Network is right in its decision to air something light on primetime as viewers now prefer to watch laugh-inducing romcoms like “Owe My Love” and “First Yaya”.

After all, people are already stressed out in real life because of the pandemic, why would they still want to watch heavy dramas filled with screaming and slapping scenes and with characters who are always angry and crying their hearts out? We all need a break as our lives are already very dramatic and stressful as it is.

“We really want to thank our loyal viewers kasi pataas nang pataas ang ratings namin every night,” says Lovi. “Nakakatuwa ring basahin ang comments nila sa internet dahil aliw na aliw sila character ko as Sensen at ni Benjamin Alves as Doc Migs. They are really rooting for us para kami ang magkatuluyan. Sabi nga nila, may magic daw talaga on screen ang tambalan namin.”

But the villains in the story will not stop from making the lives of Lovi and Benjamin miserable. Winwyn Marquez as Trixie tries her best to seduce Benjamin and succeeds in making Lovi feel jealous. Jackielou Blanco as Divina is, in turn, is doing her best to steal the properties of Benjamin’s Lolo Badong (Leo Martinez), but she cannot get past Nova Villa as Mama Eps who truly cares for Lolo Badong even if he’s suffering from dementia.

Divina also figures in a love triangle conflict with Ai Ai de las Alas as Vida Morales and Ryan Eigenmann as Doc Coops. Also contributing to the show’s merriment are the zany characters played by Kiray Celis as Evs, Buboy Villar as Gwaps, Jelai Andres as Jenny and Jon Gutierrez as Eddie. All their shenanigans add up to making “Owe My Love” a show that is truly lots of fun to watch every 9:35 PM on GMA Telebabad.

Viva introduces three newcomers

Kung Pwede Lang cast

VIVA’S fair haired director these days who has one project after another, Darryl Yap, introduces three newcomers to play the roles of Rosanna Roces’ problematic kids in the VivaMax comedy series, “Kung Pwede Lang”, which started as web series on the net made by Yap’s Vincentiments company. These are Carlyn Ocampo, Loren Marinas and Bob Jbeili.

Carlyn plays Precious, the older sister. She used to be a member of the girl group, Pop Girls, then she went to Korea and became a part of another girl group there. She returned to Manila to do “Kung Pwede Lang”.

Loren plays Penelope, the youngest in the family. She’s part of the original web series and is a member of Direk Darryl’s theater group in Olongapo. She’s also part of his other projects, including the hit movie, “Jowable”.

Bob is Osang’s only son, Prince, who is so lazy and wouldn’t want to get a job. “Sobrang batugan po ako rito pero may reason naman kung bakit ayokong magtrabaho,” he says. “Direk Darryl chose me kasi bagay raw ako sa role.”

Bob joined Eat Bulaga’s Mr Pogi in 2012 but didn’t win. He went back to finish his college studies then in 2016 he started doing hosting for fan meets and also acting in Viva’s comedies. Since the title of their series is “Kung Pwede Lang”, what would they wish to happen in real life kung pwede lang?

Bob: “Ako, kung pwede lang, mapuksa na sana ang covid virus sa buong mundo para gumaan na uli ang buhay nating lahat.

Carlyn: “The same, matapos na sana ang pandemic nang hindi na tayo natatakot lumabas.”

And Loren: “Kung pwede lang, mag-subscribe na po kayo sa VivaMax so you can watch our series regularly.”
