MANILA Mayor Honey Lacuna took pride in announcing that for the nth time, the Sta. Ana Hospital (SAH) headed by its director, Dr. Grace Padilla, has brought honor and joy to the city government for yet another achievement.

The mayor said that during the recently-concluded Digital Governance Awards 2022, the Sta. Ana Hospital was declared champion in the city level interoperability G21 category, besting other cities in the country.

The first place award in the Government Internal Operations (G2I) category was dubbed, “Digitalizing Cold Chain Principle: (Dickson-One Software) Ensuring Vaccine Safety: The City of Manila/Sta Ana Hospital Response – Manila City.”

“Ang ibig sabihin lang po nito ay napakaganda ng cold chain na pinatutupad natin sa pagi-imbak ng ating mga vaccines lalo na laban sa COVID. Kung maalaala ninyo, napakaganda ng ating storage facility, so congrats again sa Sta. Ana Hospital sa pamumuno ni Dr. Grace Padilla,” said Lacuna.

The mayor said that the SAH has soared in terms of performance, standard and quality of service since it was developed as the center of the city’s COVID efforts. It houses the local government’s infectious disease center even before COVID came along.

Apart from this, Lacuna said that at the height of the pandemic, the SAH, among others, took charge of handling the city’s RT-PCR testing machines which provides results from samples taken from all the other city-run hospitals and ran a molecular laboratory apart from the vaccine storage facility.

“Congratulations po at nagbigay na naman kayo ng karangalan sa ating minamahal na lungsod,” Lacuna said.

For her part, Padilla said the awards that SAH garners is also largely due to the dedication of the hospital staff, specially the pharmacists and the support that they are getting from Lacuna, who also happens to be a doctor.

She thanked the lady mayor, hospital workers, the Department of Interior and Local Government, DICT and DGA for recognizing the efforts of the city of Manila, saying the recognition will definitely inspire all of them to do more.

The Digital Governance Awards recognizes the efforts of public sectors in developing their internal systems and following various recognized standards to provide better service to their internal customers.

Meanwhile, the city of Manila also won second place via its entry, ‘GO! BPLS’ under the bureau of permits headed by Levi Facundo. The said entry won second place in the city level’s Business Empowerment (G2B) category owing to its quality of service through its efficient business and permits licensing system.

The mayor said Manila also won second place in the DENR-NCR’s Search for Most Improved Estero. The award was given in recognition of the improvements introduced in Estero Aviles under chairperson Editha Lim, who was also given a special citation for active women’s group participation.
