EIGHTEEN Philippine National Police ‘Malasakit Centers’ established to provide support to members of the 220,000-strong police force and their dependents have been opened on Thursday, PNP chief, General Camilo Pancratius P. Cascolan said.
The top cop personally led the ceremonial opening of their ‘Pulis Makatao, Malasakit’ Centers, a new hub that will cater to the needs and provide sufficient support and care to policemen and their dependents.
Cascolan said these new centers are established to serve as a ‘One-Stop Shop’ for PNP Uniformed and Non-Uniformed Personnel and their dependents in need of medical services, education, housing and other means of livelihood or are inquiring about their retirement claims and other social concerns.
The new program also strengthens the implementation of his 9 Strategic Thrusts or the sustainable development program needed to uplift the morale and welfare of the police force as well as their facilities development.
Cascolan said that in collaboration with various concerned institutions, these new centers will offer frontline services and programs such as medical services, retirement benefits, housing, financial education, an employment program for retirees, livelihood training for spouses, health and wellness, scholarships for dependents, and cultural orientation program.
Through zoom, Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go spoke to the police personnel and their dependents as he recognized the selfless service of all PNP personnel at the frontline in these times of COVID-19 pandemic.
Go also emphasized the pivotal role of the police force in keeping the peace and security in the country.
