CJ orders probe on slay try on Camarines Sur judge

CHIEF Justice Diosdado Peralta has called on authorties to investigate the failed attempt on the life of a Camarines Sur judge last Tuesday afternoon.

In a statement, Peralta deplored the attack on Libmanan, Camarines Sur regional trial court Judge Jeaneth Gaminde San Joaquin and her staff, saying ‘an attack on a judge is an assault on the rule of law.’

I strongly condemn the attack on Judge Jeaneth Gaminded San Joaquib and her companion. I urge all law enforcement agencies to immediately investigate the matter and ensure that the perpetrators of this crime are apprehended. An attack on our judge is an assault on the rule of law. This has no place in a civilized society like ours, ” said Peralta.

Unidentified gunmen on Tuesday afternoon ambushed San Joaquin and her staff while on their way to Naga City.

Information from the Office of the Court Administrator revealed that Joaquin, 46, of Branch 56 survived the attack, but her staff identified as Rocelle S. Martinez, 34, is said to be in critical condition at the Libmanan District Hospital.

Initial investigation showed the incident occurred at 3 p. m. Tuesday while the victims were on board their service vehicle in Bgy. Barangay Puro Batia, Libmanan en route to Naga City.

Two suspects on board a motorcycle fired at the suspects with an unknown caliber of firearms.
