Basco, Batanes – The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Undersecretary for Regional Operations Engr. Sancho Mabborang together with DOST- 02 Regional Director Virginia G. Bilgera and their team visited the office of Governor Marilou Cayco Provincial Local Government Unit (PLGU) of Batanes for Smart and Sustainable Projects supporting the Tourism Industry today, May 11, 2023.
During the visit, Usec. SAM mentioned his full support to the Tourism Projects in the province and their direction towards smart and sustainable development. He also expressed his appreciation to the province for valuing Science, Technology and Innovation.
Funding assistance on Shrimp and Lobster Culture, Water Desalination Project and Waste management and disposal are among the S&T projects to be launched in the province.
These initiatives are only few for much bigger opportunities, DOST as one of the support agencies will continue to provide more efficient, cost-effective, smart and sustainable solutions, to ensure that the country’s tourism industry remains competitive in the global market.
Aside from Usec. SAM and RD Virginia, DOST Provincial Director Nora Garcia and PAPI President Nelson Santos was also present during the visit.
