Passenger in Manila-HK Flight had case of Monkeypox

PAL spokesperson Ma. Cielo Villaluna

Philippine Airlines (PAL) said it had been advised that one of the passengers on its outbound flights from Manila was reported to have had a case of monkeypox.

In a statement, PAL spokesperson Ma. Cielo Villaluna said that the flight, PR300, left on September 5, 2022 from Manila to Hong Kong.

In line with international health protocols, Villaluna said PAL has already coordinated with the health authorities in Hong Kong.

Too, she said that PAL had shared relevant manifest information and also communicated to the Philippine Department of Health about the said case.

“We are also notifying the passengers on the flight who were in close proximity to the affected traveler,” Villaluna said.

Despite the relatively low risk of getting infected, she said that passengers on the said flight are advised to monitor their health condition and they too are being requested to seek medical attention if they are experiencing symptoms.

Villaluna said those who may have concerns can also contact the Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the HK Department of Health (DH).
