Tight watch on 2021 budget use pledged

THE House committee on appropriations chaired by ACTS-CIS Rep. Eric Go Yap vowed to safeguard the approved 2021 national budget.

In a statement, Yap said the House will exercise its oversight functions in ensuring that the budget for this year will be used wisely, honestly and properly based on the needs of the Filipinos.

This year’s budget is P4.5 trillion.

“Our responsibility as the Appropriations Chair does not end once the budget is enacted. Aside from our regular committee work, we will exercise the oversight function of the Committee to look into how the budget will be spent throughout the year,” Yap said.

Aside from the General Appropriations Act 2021, two more measures extending the validity of the previous budget were also signed into law.

“Sisiguruhin natin na ang bawat piso na galing sa buwis ng mamayang Pilipino ay diretso sa kapakinabangan nila,” Yap, the Benguet caretaker, also said.

The solon said the Congress will see to it that Bayanihan 1 and Bayanihan 2 outlays are disbursed properly agencies assigned.

If we uncover proof of corruption and irregularities, heads should roll,” the partylist solon said.

“This is in consistence with the President’s directive to further intensify the anti-corruption efforts in the government. No one is untouchable.
