IN its 11 a.m. weather bulletin yesterday, PAGASA said “Tonyo” made its third landfall over San Juan, Batangas.
The tropical depression made its first landfall over the northern part of Ticao Island, Masbate around 9 p.m. Saturday, and its second landfall over Torrijos, Marinduque at 4:30 a.m. Sunday.
“Tonyo” has maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 60 kph.
Based on the forecast track, the tropical cyclone will exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) Monday morning.
“Tonyo is forecast to intensify into tropical storm within the next 24 hours,” the PAGASA said.
Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1 remains hoisted in northern and central portions of Quezon and the rest of Calabarzon, Metro Manila, Bataan, Bulacan, Pampanga, the southern portion of Aurora, the southern portion of Zambales, Marinduque, the northern portion of Romblon, the northern and central portions of Oriental Mindoro, and the northern and central portions of Occidental Mindoro including Lubang Island.
PAGASA said “Tonyo” will bring light to moderate with at times heavy rains over Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, Aurora, the northern portion of Quezon including Polillo Islands, Rizal, Laguna, Cavite, Batangas, Mindoro Provinces, and Palawan including Calamian and Kalayaan Islands.
Areas under TCWS No. 1 may experience strong breeze to near gale conditions with occasional gusts throughout the passage of the tropical storm, it added. Philippine News Agency
