Cagayan cops haul 251 felons to jail

TWO-HUNDRED and fifty-one felons were hauled to jail as a result of a day-long simultaneous anti-criminality operations conducted by agents of the Cagayan Police Provincial Office in the province on Wednesday, a report to Police Regional Office 2 director, Brigadier General Crizaldo O. Nieves said yesterday.

According to Cagayan PPO director, Colonel Ariel N. Quilang, those arrested include 10 known drug personalities in the province and 19 top most wanted persons.

“This is part of our ongoing campaign to account for most wanted persons, drug dealers and other criminals and loose firearms in Cagayan as ordered by Brig. Gen. Nieves,” said Quilang.

The official said that apart from the 10 drug personalities, also arrested were 20 men wanted for violation of special laws; four for illegal gambling; one for illegal logging; and four for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.

Quilang said that the day-long operation likewise resulted in the seizure of 14 unlicensed firearms, 332 assorted live ammunition and one chainsaw.

Another 173 were likewise apprehended for violation of minimum quarantine protocols including non-wearing of face masks and face shields and failure to observe social distancing.

Majority of the quarantine violators were sent home and being issued citation tickets.
