Island Region convenes Special Committee on Culture to have a Culture Conference

Culture Conference

The Mimaropa Special Committee on Culture would be conducting its first semestral meeting by Friday, May 26 at the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA). This is a welcome development involving State Universities and Colleges in the said region to organize a Regional Culture Conference this year.

Several national agencies would also present their respective initiatives in Mimaropa such as the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP), Department of Tourism (DOT) and the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA).

Moreover, based on the provisional agenda there would be an upcoming National Heritage Month Celebration Webinar organized by NEDA Mimaropa. While the Western Philippine University would be presenting some proposed Culture and Arts-related Researches.

The NCCA executive director Oscar Casaysay is expected to give a message for celebrating the National Heritage Month this May with the theme change and continuity. On the other hand, the secretariat headed by Jesuben Angel Bongolan is going to impart the highlights of the previous meeting and the matters arising from such as well.

Marinduque served as a conduit institution for several NCCA projects such as Salin Awit, Saling, Tudlo: Culture-based Education, several cultural mapping projects and the Graduate Diploma in Cultural Education. By the end of July, Marinduque State College would not only have an in-person delivery of GDCE for Batch 3 but also host Durungawan, the well-attended culture-based seminar for educators, researchers and lifelong-learners.
