Roque urges public to heed UniTeam’s ‘Heal as One’ call

Harry Roque

UniTeam’s overarching message of unifying socio-political divides will pave the way for national healing and recovery from the COVID19 pandemic, senatorial aspirant Harry Roque said on Thursday.

Appealing to the public to join Uniteam’s healing as one nation agenda, Roque hoped that President Duterte would give his undivided support to party standard-bearers Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos, Jr. and ‘Inday’ Sara Duterte.

“The message of unity to recover from the pandemic is what cemented my belief in the UniTeam,” Roque said.

“Our party runs the political gamut, but we have set aside previous political differences to work together.”

Roque described the BBM-Sara tandem as a symbolic unity of opposing political forces that seek solutions to natural and man-made threats to the country, such as the COVID19 pandemic.

Roque recalled that President Rodrigo Duterte even served as officer-in-charge of Davao under the late President Corazon Aquino’s term “so the President, like me, was part of the anti-Marcos faction at some point.”

He also disclosed that President Duterte would soon campaign for the PDP-Laban senatorial slate.

Roque worked closely with the President as a former spokesman and is excited to see the President during the campaign season.

A People’s Reform Party member, Roque has been adopted as a candidate by both the UniTeam coalition and PDP-Laban.

He surmised that the President, who is very proud of the achievements of Mayor Duterte, might find it difficult not to endorse the personal choice of his daughter.

“Let us give President Duterte more time to decide on who to support in the May elections,” Roque said.

“But I would like to believe that the President will not overlook the decision of Inday Sara to support Apo BBM as presidential running-mate.”

In other development, Roque urged administration critics to stop politicizing the pandemic.

“This is the time for unified action and not for divisive politics that only impede the country’s socio-economic recovery,” Roque said.

“As a former member of the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF), let me reassure our kababayans that the government is working non-stop to best manage the pandemic’s changing risks and impacts,” he also said.

The healthcare advocate authored the Universal Health Care law, which enabled the government’s COVID19 vaccination program, Covid packages, and free PCR test for medical frontliners.
